Assembled Corklines

Available in assembled sections. These sections can be any length, with the float size(s) of your choice.

My largest market is Alaska seining, so my inventory is focused on what I know works for Alaska. However any combination of floats on any length of corkline is possible, so please contact us with your specific inquiry.

  • I try to keep inventory of 10fm section of DF15 and DF25 in both 15mm and 18mm Gannet Braid.

  • Any other combination you want, in both float sizes and diameter/strength of corkline, can be ordered in advance, but please allow 3 to 4 months from time of order to arrival.

  • Once again I focus on the use of UHMWPE. I feel this gives the most stable length over time, it floats, and absorbs no water. If you are making 20+ sets a day your crew will feel the difference. The corkline itself is Gannet Braid, an ultra tough, easy to splice line. If you are doing your own assembly then consider Gannet Gold, which comes with Built in UHMWPE hanging loops (see photos). These loops are spaced just right for the DF series floats of the sizes most popular in the Alaskan market, sizes 10 to 30, so 1000 grams buoyancy to 3000 grams of buoyancy. Gannet Gold can be ordered with spacing to fit other floats. The collar strip of netting is knotless UHMWPE. No knots to wear or add uneccessary weight. Again, 20+ sets a day is tough, this combination makes it as light as possible. The floats are EVA, like many floats out there. However these DF floats have one of the hardest, smoothest grommets in the market. It extends out from either end, as opposed to being recessed. The Grommet takes the brunt of the force and this grommet is measurably tougher. The floats are locked in place with a 12 strand UHMWPE line that is continuously woven through the Gannet Braid at each end of each float. The result is a tough, strong and easy to handle corkline.

  • You can order any length you want but for my market I’ve chosen 10 fathom (18.3meters) sections. There is just enough of the eye protruding from each end to be able to securely connect them with a Gannet Braid Soft Shackle, or any strong twine using multiple wraps.

Why 10 fathom sections? I think most salmon fishermen find themselves wishing they had a section of bigger floats somewhwere. For example where the corkline tends to sink if pursing really fast, or next to the bunt, for those large sets. As long as the splices are done correctly I don’t see a down side.

  • These 10 fathom sections allow for shipping on standard pallets as opposed to a custom made pallet which usually costs more to ship.
