Purse Rings (floating)

See Purse Rings sizes and specs here.

Patent Pending.

These rings come in various sizes for various applications. These rings can be used on the bunt breastline rings, corkline cowboy line rings, in addition to purseline rings.

I could not break test these floating rings because they do not reach a breaking point as much as they reach a ‘yield’ point, where the material starts to stretch. There was not enough travel on the test machine to reach a breaking point. This material will not shatter like the brittle nylon rings, it slowly elongates. You won’t lose a set of fish for them breaking, you may have to replace a ring or two if they deform too much. With thousands sold I have not had a report of any breakages. A Kodiak fisherman I know sawed through a few of his trying to get off a really bad snag.

  • These rings are made from UHMWPE, not re processed HMWPE which is commonly found in the fishing industry (guard rails, cutting boards) but the highest grade virgin UHMWPE, extruded in the USA.

This material is extremely slippery, with a coefficient of friction of 0.14. It also has extremely high abrasion resistance properties, making it the perfect match for a UHMWPE Gannet Braid purseline. As a comparison Stainless steel has an average .58 coefficient of friction (source: https://bssa.org.uk/bssa_articles/frictional-properties-of-stainless-steels/)
