Gold and Standard from 2lbs per fathom (.5 kg/mtr) to 24lbs per fathom (6 kg/mtr).

The Gold has a strength of 13,000lbs (5,897 kg) in the 4lbs (1 kg/mtr)/fathom to 8lbs (2 kg/mtr)/fathom sizes and 16,800lbs (7,620 kg) strength on 10lbs (1.5 kg/mtr)/fathom and heavier. The standard has no strength rating, it is usually used in conjunction with another line which takes the strain.

NOTE: See the twine section for a selection of twines to join the loops with, or to lace your netting to the leadline with.

  • Double tightly braided high tenacity polyester covers

12 strand Ikore (UHMWPE) core and loops

    Lead-beads strands

  • The distance between the loops can be single, double, or triple spaced. Our standard is double spacing on the leadline.

As the diameter of the line changes the distance between the loops changes.

*single or triple spaced would have to be a custom order

  • Jointly, Itsakorda of Spain and Gannet Nets developed an innovative new leadline.

Purse seines generally have a sinking bottom line. Depending on the fishing conditions this can be simply the naturally sinking line (usually a polyester or polyester blended line) or more commonly, it will have weight added.

Many fisheries still use chain on the bottom to make the netting sink. This is an efficient option from a volume point of view, however, it is tough on anything it touches, whether it is the stern rail of the vessel, or the power block hauling the net. It is also noisy during deployment. The Itsaskorda Gannet Gold is a great alternative as it is still relatively low in volume, because it uses lead in the core. It is quiet, and easy on the equipment and crew. It is also durable and though more expensive than chain, should prove cost effective over time.

OUR LEADLINES COME IN TWO FORMS, GOLD AND STANDARD ‘Gold’ with Ikore (UHMWPE) core and loops.

‘Standard’ with a polyester core and Ikore (UHMWPE) loops.

The gold is recommended if there is going to be any length ways strain on it. This strain may cause standard leadline to stretch, which upsets the ratio of netting to the lines. If a seine has a 'ribline' then the ribline takes the strain, so a standard leadline is all that is needed, which reduces the cost.
